Fun Fold Friday #41 - Feels Like Frost Poinsettia Diamond Top Card

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to Fun Fold Friday and this week I have made a Diamond Top card and teamed it with the lovely Feels Like Frost dsp and the Poinsettia dies to make a pretty birthday card for a special friend.  This card base is made using a full piece of A4 card stock so ends up as a slightly odd size but will fit in an A5 envelope.  I have seen smaller versions of this card but I wanted to show off as much of the dsp as possible as its so pretty.  There is a video tutorial over on my YouTube channel, just click on the link below:

Materials

1 A4 sheet of seaside spray card stock
1 piece of seaside spray 3 1/2" square
1 piece of whisper white 6" x 4"
1 piece of Feels Like Frost dsp 6" x 4", 1 piece 4" square and 1 sheet of 6" x 6" to make the flower
Poinsettia dies
Stampin Cut and Emboss machine
Happiest of Birthdays stamp set
Seaside spray ink
Trimmer
Simply Scored
Bone folder
Multipurpose adhesive
Ruler
Pearl basic jewels

Instructions

On the long side score the seaside spray at 4 1/8" and then turn 90 degrees and score again at 4 1/8", this will give you 2 squares and 2 rectangles on your A4.

Measure down the long centre score line to 5 1/2" and make a mark, then mark at 7 1/4" on both right and left hand edges of the card along the long sides (see template).

Draw a score line between the centre point at 5 1/2" to the side points at 7 1/4" as shown in the template.

Fold and burnish the straight score lines and then bend the diagonal ones. Hold the card in front of you longways with the centre fold as a valley and keep bending, eventually the diagonal scores will bend and the card will fold, just be patient and don't rush this bit.  When it all folds up, then burnish all of the score lines well. It's just a matter of showing the card stock who is boss haha.  I usually sit a punch on top of it while I cut out the other pieces.

The dsp layer and the whisper white layer for the inside are both exactly the same.  The pattern of the dsp needs to run vertically, so the piece will be 6" high and 4" wide.  Now measure up the right hand side of the dsp and make a mark at 4 3/8". Now cut diagonally from the top left of the dsp to the mark - either on your trimmer or draw a pencil line and cut with scissors (whichever you prefer).  Make the whisper white layer in exactly the same way.  You may have to shave tiny slivers off these pieces to get them axactly right, it will depend on the accuracy of your score lines on the card.

Stamp the sentiment on the whisper white layer with seaside spray ink and adhere to the inside of the card.

Adhere the dsp layer to the card front.

Adhere the 4" square piece of dsp to the diamond panel at the top of the card and then adhere the seaside spray square to the centre of that layer.

Die cut two sets of the three sizes of petals.

Curl the edges of the petals with a bone folder to give them some shape.

Adhere the two largest together off setting the petals and then then 2 medium ones on top of that and then finally the two small ones on top of that.  You will now have a lovely, full looking flower.

Adhere the flower to the centre of the seaside spray panel at the top of the card and add some pearls to the centre.

I haven't added a sentiment to the front of the card because I didn't want to cover up any of this beautiful designer series paper.

I hope that you like this card and will give it a try. Remember that you can alter the overall height of this card if you want to make it smaller, just cut down the size from a full piece of A4 to whatever you want.
