Heartwarming Hugs Meets Penguin Place Christmas Card - Stampin' Birds Blog Hop

 Hi Everyone,

Todays' card is one that I made for a monthly swap group that I belong to and the theme was Christmas in July as we wanted to highlight some of the lovely new things coming in the Mini Catalogue which launches on 3rd August.  I've used lots of different patterns from the Heartwarming Hugs collection and teamed it with the cute penguin from the Penguin Place stamp set (there's also a punch), and inside there is a peek at the one of the Saleabration papers on offer with a qualifying order. Let me show you how I made it.

Materials

1 piece of card stock 5 7/8" x 8 1/4" (I have used real red, garden green and old olive - I had to make 13 cards)
1 piece of dsp (Heartwarming Hugs) 3 7/8" x 5 5/8", 1 piece 3" square
1 piece of basic white card 3 7/8" x 5 5/8", 1 piece 2" square and a scrap for the sentiment
Scrap of gold foil
Real red ink
Old olive ink
Garden green ink
Pumpkin pie ink
Memento black ink
Bumblebee ink
Penguin Place stamp set (new)
Penguin Builder punch (new)
Star punch (new)
Penguin Playmates dsp (Saleabration)
Pool party Stampin Blends
Trimmer
Simply scored
Bone folder
Multipurpose adhesive
Dimensionals

Instructions

On the long side score the card stock at 4 1/8" and fold and burnish to make the card base.

Adhere the larger piece of dsp to the card front and then add the 3" square as shown in the photograph towards the left.

I've used some retired square dies to make my stamping squares but you can just cut a 2" square if you don't have any dies. I stamped the penguin in the centre with memento black ink, added a beak and feet in pumpkin pie, a hat in either real red, old olive or garden green and a parcel or a basket in bumblebee. When the penguin is complete, scribble a line underneath with the pool party blend to make it look like he is on the ground and not floating in the air and then add it to the card front overlapping the 3" square as shown.

Stamp a sentiment on a 1/2" strip and cut both ends on the diagonal and add to the card front with mini dimensionals.

Stamp another sentiment on the remaining piece of white card. Punch out one of the penguins from the dsp and adhere on the bottom left and again, scribble underneath with the pool party to sit him on the ice. Adhere this layer on the inside of the card.

Punch out some of the small stars in the gold foil and add to the card front.

Isn't this FREE dsp cute? Spend £45 in either catalogue to be able to get a pack of this cute paper for FREE, this is just a little sneak peek.

I do hope that you like my card and will give it a try. Please click on the link below to see what the rest of the team have been up to.

Pansy Petals Fold Back Pop Up Card

 Hi Everyone,

I am taking part in a Blog Hop today and the theme is 'Fun Fold' cards and if you follow me, you know that these are my absolute favourite cards to make. You may have arrived at my page from Kelly's blog, or be one of my followers, however you got here, welcome and thank you.  I thought I would choose my favourite designer series papers to go with it and have used the beautiful Pansy Petals. My inspiration came from Mixed Up Crafts for this card.

Materials

1 piece of soft succulent card stock 10" x 7", 1 piece 4 1/2" square, 2 pieces 2 1/4" square
1 piece of basic white 3 3/4" x 6 7/8", 1 piece 4 1/4" square, 2 pieces 2" square
1 piece of dsp 4 3/4" x 6 3/4", 2 pieces 2 1/4" x 6 3/4"
Scraps of the dsp with the flowers and leaves to die cut/fussy cut
Evening evergreen ink
Pansy Patch stamp set
Pansy dies
Stampin Cut and Emboss machine
Trimmer
Simply scored
Bone folder
Multipurpose adhesive
Dimensionals
Paper snips

Instructions

On the long side score the soft succulent card stock at 2 1/2" and 5", fold and burnish to make a Z fold shape.

Put the 5" fold to the top of the score board and score at 1 1/2" and 5 1/2" but ONLY to the 1" mark. Then score a line between these two points to join them up. With the paper snips cut down from the fold on the 1" score lines to the horizontal score that you have just made. Push the central section in see picture, you will need to be careful and coax it into place.

Add the dsp layer to the back and the smaller section next to it by cutting round the pop up (mine is slightly off but the finished pop up hides that).Mark with a pencil about 1/8" either side of the pop up and cut down approx 1 1/4", try it for size and adhere in place when you are happy with the fit.  Add the remaining dsp piece to the front panel.

Put the 4 1/2" square in the trimmer with two opposite points in the cutting guide and make a diagonal cut, repeat this with the 4" piece of basic white.

Stamp a sentiment on the basic white so that it will sit in the centre point of the triangle and then adhere in place on the soft succulent layer.  Now add this to the pop up section, line it up so that the points fall equally on either side of the pop up and it is flush with the inside of the card.

Layer up the two lots of smaller squares and adhere to the card front in a diamond shape as shown.

Either die cut or fussy cut as many flowers and leaves as you like and adhere them in place on the two squares and on the inside as required.

Adhere the remaining piece of basic white to the back of the card to write your message.

I do hope that you like my card and will give it a try.

Bloom Where You Are Planted Scrapbusting Card - Crafty Collaborations - Share it on a Sunday Blog Hop

 Hi Everyone,

I'm hopping with the Crafty Collaborations group again today and I am trying to use up scraps (again). I always seem to have lots of them and I am trying to come with different ways of using them up. Let me show you how I made this card.

Materials

1 piece of cinnamon cider card stock 5 7/8" x 8 1/4"
1 piece of basic white card 3 7/8" x 5 5/8"
1 piece of gray granite card for the rectangle approx 3" x 4"
2 pieces of dsp 1" x 4 3/8", 2 pieces 1" x 2 7/8" (watch out for directional patterns)
Scalloped Contour dies
Stampin' Cut and Emboss
Scraps of dsp to fussy cut leaves and pot
Scrap of soft succulent ribbon
Evening Evergreen ink
Forever Fern stamp set
Dimensionals
Multipurpose adhesive
Paper snips
Trimmer
Simply scored
Bone folder

Instructions

On the long side score the cinnamon cider card at 4 1/8" and fold and burnish to make the card base.

Adhere the strips of dsp around the edges of the card front leaving equal gaps around them and a bigger space in the centre.

Die cut the scalloped rectangle (middle size) in the gray granite and fussy cut one of the pots and some leaves (or die cut if you have the dies). Tie a very small bow with the scrap of ribbon and wrap around the chosen pot securing the ends on the back with dimensionals and then add this to the bottom of the rectangle.  Tuck the leaves in behind and then stamp the sentiment above and fix to the centre of the card with dimensionals.

Stamp some leaves with evening evergreen on the remaining basic white piece and then add to the inside of the card.

Job done, simple card using up a few scraps of dsp, give it a try. Click on the links below to see what everyone else has been making.
