Whale of a Time Note cards and Matching Box

Hi Everybody,

Today I have been making some note cards using the Whale of a Time dsp and I wanted to make a box to match too. Let me show you how I did it. the inspiration for the box came from Pootles on YouTube.

Materials

4 note cards and matching envelopes
1 piece of Pretty Peacock card stock 8" x 8 1/2" and 1 piece 7" x 4"
DSP - for each card 1 piece 3 1/4" x 4 3/4"
DSP - for the box front - 1 piece 1 3/4" x 3 3/4" and 1 piece 3 3/4" x 3 3/4"
DSP for the back and inside of the box - 2 pieces 3 3/4" x 5 1/4"
Scraps of Pretty Peacock and Whisper White card stock for the sentiments
Stitched So Sweetly dies
Die cutting machine
Pretty peacock ink
Forever Fern stamp set
Multipurpose adhesive
Velcro Dots
Trimmer
Simply Scored
Bone folder
Detailed Trio punch

Instructions

Cards - adhere a piece of dsp to the centre of each card front.

Die cut 5 of the smallest Stitched So Sweetly rectangles in whisper white and 5 of the next size up in pretty peacock.

Stamp the sentiment on the whisper white pieces in pretty peacock ink. Adhere the whisper white layer to the pretty peacock layer and fix to the front of each card, leaving one left over for the box.

Box - Put the largest piece of pretty peacock card in the simply scored with the long side at the top and score at 5 1/2" and 6 1/2". Turn to the short side and score at 1", 2", 6" and 7", fold and burnish all the score lines.

Put the smaller piece in the simply scored and score on the long side at 4" and 5", fold and burnish.

Then cut up the score lines as per the picture above and round off the corners with the detailed trio punch.

Flip it over and add dsp to the bottom flap and the back of the box, making sure that you round off the corners on the smaller piece.

Round off the corners on the longer side of the front flap as in the picture above and then adhere the shorter end on the inside of the box, see picture below.

Add a piece of dsp on the inside section which will cover the piece that you have just glued and flip over and add another piece to the back of the box.

Add adhesive to the tabs and fold up and secure to the side pieces and then bring the bottom flap up and secure in place to close the bottom of the box, see picture.

Add velcro dots on the side pieces and on the inside of the front flap to close the box. (You could also use magnets but I couldn't find mine.)

Close the box and add the dsp to the front, rounding off the bottom corners and add the remaining sentiment layers to the front.

Put the four cards and envelopes inside the box and you have a cute little gift. I hope that you like it and will give it a try.
