Share it on a Sunday - Mini Exploding Gift Bag

Hi Everyone,

The theme for Share it on a Sunday this week was to make a gift bag using a sheet of 6 x 6 designer series paper.  There are lots of different designs around but the one that I chose to have a go at was the mini exploding gift bag. I'd never tried it before but I had a look at a few different ones on Pinterest and YouTube and came up with this one.  I've used Flowers for every Season for the Just Jade one and Playing with Patterns for the Calypso Coral one.  I hope you like them and give it a go.  Below this post there are the links to Donna and Victoria's projects, pop over and see what they have made today.

Materials

1 sheet of 6" x 6" designer series paper
2" circle of matching card stock and a scrap 1/4" x 3"
2" circle punch
Velcro dot
Mini glue dots
Multipurpose adhesive
Simply scored
Bone folder
Ruler
Paper snips

Instructions

Score at 2" on all four sides of the designer series paper.  The rest of the scores are diagonal ones so you will need a ruler and your scoring tool, follow the template below.

Trim off the pieces that are scribbled out on the template and then fold and burnish all the score lines. Fold and burnish the diagonal ones both ways so that they will fold up easier.  If you hold the paper with the straight middle piece facing you and push on the side pieces, they should all fold in to form the bag shape.

Punch out the 2" circle and score at 7/8" and 1 1/8" and fold and burnish the score lines. Add adhesive to the back half and fold the circle over the top of the bag and press down to secure on the back.  With the 1/4" strip, score 1/4" from each end and then curl the portion between the scores with the bone folder to make the handle shape.  Add a glue dot to either end and secure to the top of the bag.  Add a velcro dot under the front flap and press the bag together to catch it shut. Open and shut the velcro a couple of times carefully to make it easier for the recipient to open. Add a rhinestone to the front to look like a fastener on the handbag.

These are really quick and simple to make and would be great for table favours for dinner parties, birthday or Christmas parties and even wedding favours.  Give it a try, you might be surprised how easy they are.
