Butterfly Gala Sketch Challenge

Hi Everyone,

Those of you who follow me will know that I regularly show you projects that are challenges.  Sometimes it's colours, sometimes a particular product and sometimes it's a sketch.  I do lots of challenges with two of my crafty friends - Taffycrafting (Donna Lester) and Vickieloudesigns (Victoria Littlewood) and we have a regular weekly one called Share it on a Sunday. Well, now Donna has challenged us to do some sketch challenges over the next few weeks to keep our creative mojo going and I'm going to use them as a chance to show you new products as well as some old favourites that I haven't used for a while.  So, here goes with my Challenge 1, I hope that you like it.

(sketch from cardztv.blogspot.com)

Materials

1 piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock 5 7/8" x 8 1/4" and 1 piece 2 3/4" x 3 1/4" and 1 x 1 1/2" circle
3 pieces of Pear Pizzazz dsp from the Subtles DSP stack 1 1/4" x 5 5/8" and 1 1 3/8" circle
1 piece of In Good Taste dsp 3/4" x 4"
1 piece of Whisper White 3 7/8" x 5 5/8" for the inside and 1 piece 2 1/2" x 3"
Scraps of Whisper White for the butterflies
1 1/2" circle punch
1 3/8" circle punch
Butterfly Duet punch
Butterfly Gale stamp set
Crushed Curry ink
Pear Pizzazz ink
Multipurpose adhesive
Trimmer
Simply Scored
Bone Folder

Instructions

Score the pear pizzazz card stock at 4 1/4" and fold and burnish to make the card base.

Adhere the three strips of pear pizzazz dsp (I have used the wood grain pattern) to the card front leaving a small border between them as well as around the outside.

Arrange the strip of In Good taste dsp across the middle (I have chosen a light wood grain one).
Stamp the sentiment using pear pizzazz ink on the whisper white rectangle and stamp two double butterflies and two of the small ones on the scrap of whisper white using the crushed curry ink.

Adhere the whisper white layer to the pear pizzazz mat and arrange in the centre of the card but towards the top.

Punch out a 1 1/2" circle of pear pizzazz card and a 1 3/8" circle from the dsp (you could use circle dies but I didn't have one small enough to fit inside the 1 1/2" circle punch so I have used a retired punch). Layer the two circles together and arrange on the card front as in the picture. Punch out the butterflies with the butterfly duet punch.

Adhere the whisper white mat on the side of the card and adhere one of the large butterflies.

Arrange the rest of the butterflies on the card front, secure just the bodies so that the wings can be lifted slightly to make them look like they are flying.

This is a great sketch for showing off dsp and you could make several using different ones and each one would look completely different. Why not give a sketch challenge a go, I'd love to see what you make.
