Penguin Place Heartwarming Hugs Treat Box - Crafty Collaborations Packaging Blog Hop

 Hi Everyone,

Today I am hopping with the Crafty Collaborations group and our theme is 'Packaging'. I love to make little bags and boxes to gift chocolate treats at any time of the year but this time I've made it a Christmas one. You can use this design for table favours, stocking fillers, teacher gifts, craft fairs, to go on the Christmas tree, it's a simple design that looks great in any colour combination and with any designer series paper.  I've made lots of them over the years and it's a design I just go back to time after time.

Materials

1 piece of real red card stock 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
2 pieces of dsp 3 3/8" x 1 7/8"
Scraps of white and black for the decoration
Ribbon or twine to match
Penguin Place stamp set
Penguin Builder Punch
Memento Black ink
Real Red ink
Pumpkin Pie ink
Double Oval Punch
Paper snips
Trimmer
Simply Scored
Bone Folder
Multipurpose adhesive
Dimensionals
Ruler
Hole Punch

Instructions

On the long side score the red card at 2", 4", 6" and 8", then turn and score at 2" on the short side.

With a ruler and the scoring tool, score diagonal lines across the 2nd and 4th large panel in both directions to make a X in each of these panels. Then make a score line from the intersection of the cross to the top of the panel (this will be a fold line when you put the bag together to get the shape at the top).

Cut up the score lines from the bottom to the horizontal score line and remove the small skinny rectangle at the end and notch both ends of the skinny rectangle above to make the tab.

Fold and burnish all of the score lines inclusing the diagonals.  Adhere the dsp to the panels that don't have any scoring.

Add glue to the outside of the long skinny tab and fold the opposite side over to met it and close the box.

Fold thetwo side bases in and then the back and front flaps and glue them down to close the bottom of the box.

Push in on the two sides at the top of the box to make the shape and the bottom sides should pop outwards, you might have to manipulate this at first.

Punch a hole through back and front at the top, in the middle and thread the ribbon through, fill with treats and tie in a bow or a knot depending on the look you want, you may want to leave long ends on it to tie it to the Christmas tree.

Punch out the larger of the ovals in the punch in basic white and stamp a greeting to the right hand side using real red ink.

Punch out the penguin body in black and then the inner body piece in white and adhere them together. Stamp the features on the penguin face and body and add a scarf.  Stamp a matching hat on a scrap of white card and fussy cut but leave a wider border at the bottom of the hat so that you can add the glue to this section and adhere to the penguins head on the back.  Add the penguin to the sentiment label at an angle and then add to the box using dimensionals.
