Ink Stamp Share Special Blog Hop - Heartwarming Hugs Origami Flower Christmas Card

 Hi Everyone,

Today I am hopping again with the Ink Stamp Share group and there is no specific theme, it's a 'Special Hop' so covers anything that you have been working on recently.  I saw a card like this made over on Mixed Up Crafts and thought I would have a go with the lovely Heartwarming Hugs designer series paper and make it into a Christmas card.  You may have come to my blog via Libby's page or maybe you just found me but whichever it is, please click on the next button below and follow the hop and be inspired by many talented crafters.  Thank you xx

Materials

1 6" x 6" pre scored bought card base or make your own using 1 piece of 6" x 12" card stock
1 piece of real red card stock 5 5/8" square
8 2" circles of designer series papers (double sided), I have used 4 red and 4 green
Scrap of whisper white 3/4" x 4 1/2" for the sentiment and a 2" circle to glue the petals to
Poinsettia petals stamp set
Lovely Labels pick a punch
2" circle punch
Wrapped in texture embossing folder
Gem for the flower centre (from my stash)
Real red ink
Trimmer
Stampin cut and emboss machine
Multipurpose adhesive
Dimensionals

Instructions

If making your own card base, score the card stock at 6" on the long side and fold and burnish.

Run the real red card stock through the embossing machine using the wrapped in texture folder - this is a smaller folder so you will have to run it through twice but is you are careful with the placement of the folder on the second run - try and line up the pattern - it doesn't show.

To make the flower, you need 8 x  2" circles, I am using a larger one in the pictures (please excuse the grubby grid paper behind it) to try and make it easier for you to see. If you are struggling, check out Origami Dahlia videos on YouTube and I am sure you will be able to find lots.  As I said, I followed Sam Calcott on Mixed Up Crafts.

Fold the circle in half and then half again to give you quarters.

If the pattern is directional, check the direction of it before the next fold - on the bottom two segments, fold up the bottom edge of the segment from one fold to the other, gives you a small semi-circle, make sure it touches the fold at both sides.  Do this on the bottom two segments.

Flip over then fold in each side to meet the centre fold.

Burnish the folds well when you are sure they are level.

Now, find the centre of the 2" whisper white circle and begin to adhere the petals, alternating the colours if required. Make sure that all the points are right in the centre and that the petals are as close to each other as you can get and the sides of each of them meet up along their edges.

Adhere a gem to the centre to cover all the middle joins. Pull out the petals on one of the colours so that they overlap the others - see the picture at the top.

Stamp a sentiment on the strip of whisper white and on the inside of the card using the real red ink.

Punch both ends of the strip using the lovely labels punch.

Add the real red mat to the card front using dimensionals. Add the flower to the top centre of this layer and then add the sentiment underneath, also on dimensionals.

There you are, a pretty Christmas card that is a bit different, give it a try.
