Heartwarming Hugs Christmas Card

Hi Everyone,

Those of you who follow me will know that I regularly show you projects that are challenges.  Sometimes it's colours, sometimes a particular product and sometimes it's a sketch.  I do lots of challenges with two of my crafty friends - Taffycrafting (Donna Lester) and Vickieloudesigns (Victoria Littlewood) and we have a regular weekly one called Share it on a Sunday. Well, now Donna has challenged us to do some sketch challenges over the next few weeks to keep our creative mojo going and I'm going to use them as a chance to show you new products as well as some old favourites that I haven't used for a while.  So, here goes with my Challenge 11 of #33, I hope that you like it.

(sketch from cardztv.blogspot.com)

Materials

1 piece of Real Red card stock 5 7/8" x 8 1/4", 2 pieces 1 1/4" x 3 1/4"
1 piece of whisper white card stock 3 7/8" x 5 5/8" and a 2" circle
1 piece of dsp (I'm using Heartwarming Hugs) 3 7/8" x 5 5/8" and 2 pieces of contrasting dsp 1 1/8" x 3 1/8"
5" piece of silver edged whisper white ribbon
Real red ink
Garden green ink
Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set
Gift wrapped stamp set
Poinsettia Petals stamp set
Dimensionals
Multipurpose adhesive
Trimmer
Simply scored
Bone folder

Instructions

Score the real red card at 4 1/8" and fold and burnish to make the card base.

Wrap the strip of ribbon around the largest piece of dsp about in the centre and secure the ends on the back with some sticky tape.  Then adhere this piece to the card front leaving a small border all around.

Layer the other two strips of dsp onto the mat layers and adhere them together, add them to the card using dimensionals so they straddle the ribbon and help to keep it in place.

Stamp the sentiment on the 2" circle of whisper white using real red ink (I have used Itty Bitty Christmas for the sentiment and the stars are from Gift Wrapped).  Adhere to the card front as shown on the sketch, over the two contrasting panels.

Stamp a sentiment on the whisper white layer and add some holly leaves in garden green (these stamps are from Poinsettia Petals), I've also used the centre of the poinsettia flower in real red to represent the berries. Adhere this layer on the inside of the card.

I have used three different stamp sets just to show that you can mix and match bits from different sets to make a pretty card.

Using sketches is a great way to restart your mojo and give you ideas.  You could make this layout in any number of different combinations, why don't you give it a try.
