Heartwarming Hugs, Gingerbread & Peppermint Concertina Frame Fold Card

Hi Everyone,

I really love this fun fold, another one inspired by the very talented Sam Calcott from Mixed Up Craft, check out her amazing designs on YouTube. I've used the colourful Heartwarming Hugs and Gingerbread & Peppermint dsp for this card, let me show you how I made it.

Materials

1 piece of real red card 7" x 10"
1 piece of old olive 10" x 3 3/4"
1 piece of basic white card 7" x 10", 2 pieces 4 3/4" x 6 3/4"
4 pieces of dsp 3/4" x 6 3/4", 12 pieces 3/4" x 1 1/4", 2 pieces 2" x 3 1/2", 1 piece 4 1/2" x 6 1/2"
Scraps of basic white and Gingerbread & Peppermint dsp
Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine
Scalloped Contour dies
Paper snips
Perfectly Plaid stamp set
Real red ink
Rectangle Postage Stamp Punch
Multipurpose adhesive
Dimensionals
Trimmer
Simply Scored
Bone Folder

Instructions

On the long side, score the real red at 5" and fold and burnish to make the card base.

On the long side of the basic white, score at every inch across the width of the card, fold on the 5" score line and put the fold up to the top of the scoreboard and score at 1 1/2" just down to the 3rd score line, repeat at the 5 1/2" mark.  Cut down along these two lines to the 3rd score line and then across to join the two so that you are removing the centre portion of the card. Then fold and burnish all the score lines starting at the right with a valley, mountain and repeating across the width of the card, you should end with a valley at the left side. Fold the card up and close it several times to train it all to stay the way that you want it in a full concertina fold.

On the long side of the old olive card, score at 2 3/4", %" and 7 1/4", fold and burnish the score lines, all as mountain folds.

I found it easier to add the pieces inside the card before I added the dsp, add the white layer first and then fit the old olive one inside it.  Add glue to one long end of the white and fix in place so that it is completely level with the outer edge of the inside of the card and then repeat with the other side.

Add glue to the two end pieces of the old olive and carefully put them through the white and adhere either side of the fold in the red card so that this pops up through the hole in the centre of the white (see picture).

Now add the dsp to all of the folds on both the white and the old olive card.

Stamp a sentiment on a scrap of white and punch with the postage stamp punch and add to the left hand side of the old olive card. Fussy cut some of the images from the Gingerbread & Peppermint dsp and add to this section of the card (see picture).

Stamp a sentiment on one piece of the basic white and adhere to the back of the card.  Adhere the other piece to the card front and then add the dsp.

Stamp a sentiment in real red on a scrap of white card and die cut with the second smallest of the scalloped contour dies and fix to the card front using dimensionals.

Fussy cut some more of the pieces from the Gingerbread & Peppermint dsp and add to the front and back of the card.

I really love how this card turned out and will definitely be making more, I hope that you like it and will give it  try.  It needs a box or a padded envelope as it's too thick for an ordinary envelope (there are lots of tutorials over on Mixed Up Crafts for card boxes and what Sam calls bouncy envelopes, check them out if you have never made any before.)
