Wedding Favour - Gift Box

Hi Everyone,

I know that weddings are on hold at the  moment but we still need to be prepared for when they do start to happen again.  Today I've made a little box, I'm using it as a favour box but it could be a gift box for a piece of jewellery or without the embossing, just a little treat box or you could fill it with chocolate treats and make it in Christmas colours too.  I was inspired by Crafty Caroline Creates who made something similar several years ago.

Materials

1 piece of card stock 7" x 6 1/2" (I've used night of navy) and a 1" strip that will go all around the box (approx 8") and a scrap for the heart sentiment
Silver foil car for the heart
Heart punch pack
1/2" circle punch
Embossing buddy
Versamark ink
Silver embossing powder
Heat Tool
Forever Blossoms stamp set
Trimmer
Bone Folder
Paper snips
Simply Scored
Multipurpose adhesive
Tear and tape
Dimensionals

Instructions

If you are embossing the box, you need to do that before you score and fold.

Rub the embossing buddy all over the card stock to get rid of the static and any finger marks.

Stamp the small blossom from Forever Blossoms all over the card in a random pattern using Versamark ink.  Then sprinkle silver embossing powder all over the card and shake off the excess.  Heat set the design with the heat tool.  Stamp a sentiment on a scrap of card stock for the top of the belly band and then sprinkle with powder and heat set that too

On the short side, score at 1", 3", 4" and 6".  Turn 90 degrees and on the long side score at 2" and 5".
Then keeping the long side at the top score at 1 1/2" and 5 1/2" down to the second score ONLY.

Fold and burnish all the score lines.

With the 1/2" score line at the bottom, cut away the two skinny rectangles at the right and left.

Turn the card 180 degrees and cut along the score line which only goes to the second score line on both sides.

Cut up the small score that is left at the side of that score to release the tabs (see picture) and notch them.

Now, as you look at it there is a square at either side, with a ruler and a score tool or a bone folder make diagonal scores across that square in both directions.

Then cut across the diagonal as in the picture and then push the diagonal score in so it folds inside the box and burnish.  Punch a thumb notch in the bottom edge as in the picture below with the 1/2" circle punch.
Add tear and tape to the tabs and sides as shown in the picture above.  Remove the backing and bring the cut edge on the wing (see above) to the folded edge and secure on both sides.  Then remove the backing on the small tabs and fold them in and secure.

Tuck the flap in on the front and the box is made.  To help keep it closed and the contents secure, it needs a belly band.  Using the 1" strip, starting on the top of the box, gently fold it around the box, pinching at each edge.  Lay it on the table and burnish the pinched edges, making sure they are straight. Make sure you have about 1" overlapping and then cut off the excess. and glue the two ends together, one on top of the other but not too tight, it has to be able to slide on and off.

Punch out the sentiment that you stamped on the card stock with the heart punch and then punch out a silver foil heart with the scalloped punch and adhere them together.  Add dimensionals to the back and add to the belly hand so that it sits in the centre of the box.

I hope that you like this box, it's quite easy to make, have a go!
