Team Scrimpy Blog Hop - Mini Catalogue Favourite

Hi Everyone,

Today's card is one I have made as part of the Team Scrimpy Blog Hop showcasing favourites from the Mini Catalogue. My favourites from the catalogue have been die sets.  I love lots of the stamp sets and the dsp but from this catalogue, I have bought (and used) lots of die sets.  I was flipping through the catalogue and came upon the card that I have used as inspiration for this hop, I don't have everything that was used so can't CASE it exactly. I've seen it loads of times but never really seen it, it uses dies in a way I've never done before, let me show you what I mean.

Materials

1 piece of coastal cabana card stock 5 7/8" x 8 1/4"
Scraps of coastal cabana card stock
1 piece of whisper white 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" for the inside
Scraps of  poppy parade card stock for the flowers *
Scrap of whisper white for the sentiment
Scraps of mossy meadow for the leaves
Scraps of daffodil delight ruched ribbon
Stitched so sweetly dies
Painted label dies
Die cutting machine
So sentimental stamp set
Painted poppies stamp set
Poppy parade ink
Memento black ink
Multipurpose adhesive
Dimensionals
Mini glue dots

Instructions

Fold the large piece of coastal cabana in half and burnish to make the card base.

For the flowers, I didn't have any poppy parade card stock so I have used the colour wash side of  one of the sheets of dsp from Peaceful Poppies and stamped four large poppies in memento black ink.

Die cut the four poppies from the dsp or the card stock from the Painted Label dies.

Die cut four leaves from the mossy meadow card stock from the Painted Label dies

Die cut the larger label shape in whisper white (see picture) from the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

Cut 7 of the shaped labels using the scraps of coastal cabana (see picture) from the Stitched So Sweetly dies, I have only ever used these as sentiment layers before, so this card was a bit of a  revelation for me ha ha.

Arrange the shapes on the card front until you are happy with them, have some of them  overhanging the edges and adhere them into place.  When the glue is dry, turn the card over and trim the excess from around the edges of the card from the back, this makes for a neater cut.

Stamp the sentiment on the whisper white label and arrange the flowers and leaves behind it and glue them in place on the back of the label.  Add dimensionals and stick to the front of the card.

Take two small scraps of ribbon and fold them in half, stick the two ends together with a glue dot and them add to either side of the flower arrangement, pushing them underneath the flowers and secure with a glue dot.

Adhere the whisper white layer to the inside of the card and you're finished.

The photographs in the catalogues are amazing inspiration and if you look closely, sometimes they have used things in a very different way. I would never have thought of cutting out lots of labels in the same colour as the card base and arranging them on top like this.  It makes you think outside the box.  Have a close look and see what you can find.
