Sunflower Card in a Matching Box

Hi Everyone,

When I was looking through the new Annual Catalogue, I saw that there is a beautiful stamp set and dies featuring sunflowers. I haven't got them yet but it reminded me of some dies that I have in my stash so I made this box and card set which could very easily be reproduced using the new products when you get them.. Let me show you what I did.

Instructions

As I said above, it was the sight of the sunflowers in the catalogue that got me thinking and when I remembered the dies in my stash, I wanted to make a box and use the sunflower as a topper for it.  The card doesn't really need to be in a box, I just made that as something to go inside the lovely box.

To make the box, score each of the pieces of square night of navy at 1" on all four sides and then fold and burnish the score lines.  Cut up the score at each corner to form the tab and notch both sides of each tab.  Add adhesive to the tabs and bring the cut side to the fold on each corner and press in place.

Because the lid is 1/16" larger all round, it should fit beautifully on top of the base.  You can put a thumb notch in either side with a small circle punch if you like.

Die cut some sunflowers to add to the top of the box.  The one I have used has two sizes and I've used both of them to make it fuller.  I've added the centre with a dimensional and used dimensionals to secure it to the box lid.

To make the card - fold the night of navy card stock in half to make the base and burnish it well.  Stamp a sentiment on the whisper white for the inside layer and then add using multipurpose adhesive.

Add the other whisper white layer to the card front.

Die cut some leaves and smaller sunflowers and arrange on the front of the card.  I have used mini dimensionals to pop some of the layers of the flowers up.  I have used several tiny punches to punch out shapes to use as the flower centres.

The silver foil layer behind the sentiment is another part of the sunflower die but you could leave that out of use some foil to cut out the sunflower from the dies.  I've stamped a sentiment using night of navy ink and layered that on a 2 1/4" circle cut out of navy card.

There you are a pretty card inside an even prettier box, I hope that you like it and it has given you an idea to use with your sunflower dies or any other flower dies that you may have.

Happy crafting,

Karen XX
