Scrapbusting DSP

Hi Everyone,

I'm on a mission to get rid of my scraps before the new annual catalogue goes live in June.  Today I've been playing about with strips and odd shaped pieces to see what I could come up with.  Other than general measurements, I'm going to leave it to your imagination to come up with your own designs, this is just to get you started. There is a video tutorial over on my YouTube channel, click the link below:

Materials

1 piece of card stock 10" x 7" for the card base
Assorted scraps and strips of designer series paper in complimentary colours
Gold foil and whisper white for mats, layers and sentiments
Good Morning Magnolia stamp set
Magnolia dies
Old olive ink
Triple banner punch
Stitched rectangle dies
paper snips
Multipurpose adhesive
Dimensionals

Instructions Card 1

Gather together enough 1" strips of dsp to fit across the card base.  Punch the end with the triple banner punch.

Lay the pieces out until you are happy with the look and then adhere them in place, varying the lengths.  If they are longer than you need, flip the card over and cut off the excess from the back.

Cut a wider banner strip from the gold foil and arrange horizontally across the card front.  Cut a 1" strip from whisper white, punch a banner in the end and then stamp the sentiment in old olive ink and adhere to the gold foil banner.

Add a piece of whisper white 4 7/8" x 6 7/8" to the inside to write your message if required.

Instructions Card 2

For this card, I found some triangles of dsp that I had cut incorrectly for another card that I was making a while ago.  I had been making a 5" x 7" star card when I made the mistake so I knew that two of these pieces together would mat on a 5" x 7" card base.  But, I thought it would be too much green as it was, so decided to put a gold foil mat in between the dsp and the card base which is mossy meadow.

Add the gold foil mat and then lay the two triangles on top showing both sides of the dsp for contrast and adhere in place.

Die cut a stitched rectangle in gold foil and a smaller one in whisper white.  Stamp a sentiment to the right of the whisper white layer and die cut a magnolia flower from one of the scraps of dsp and add to the left hand side of the sentiment mat.  Adhere this to the gold foil and add them to the card front using dimensionals.

Add a piece of whisper white to the inside to write your message if required.

Two quick and simple cards made from scraps, have a go and see what you come up with.
