Hi Everyone,
Today I have made a special card for my sister for her birthday. I love to make fun fold cards and this one is one I’ve not tried before. It’s called a drop down gatefold card and I saw it first on Pinterest and I thought that the Fine Art Floral designer series paper would be shown off really well with this style. Let me show you how I made it.
Materials
Instructions
Score the flirty flamingo 12 x 12 on one side at 3” and 9”, then turn 90 degrees and score at 6”. Fold and burnish all the score lines.
Cut up
the 3” and 9” score lines to the 6” score line that runs across the middle,
then remove these two lower, outer gates, this will leave you with 3 sections
across the top and just one below.
Put the mats and layers together and then adhere to the card
(all the dsp layers go on the inside of the card except for one which goes on
the reverse of the drop down piece which shows when you fold the card up).
Add the whisper white 5 ½” square to the back of the card to write your message.
On the 2 x 2 ½” x 5 1/2" strips of basic white, stamp the flower image with the leaves and then adhere these layers to the outside of the two gates.
Stamp two more flowers on a scrap of basic white and die
cut.
Die cut 2 x 2” squares in basic white, 2 x 2 ½” squares in soft sea foam and 2 x 3” squares in flirty flamingo and then layer them up using multipurpose adhesive.
Stamp the sentiment in merry merlot ink on the bottom of the white layer and then add one of the flowers above it using dimensionals. Adhere one of these sets of square to the drop down portion of the card on the inside.
Die cut the ‘just want to say’ phrase from the dies in flirty flamingo and then adhere to the inside of the card as shown in the picture.
Cut a 1 ½” x 12” strip of flirty flamingo for the belly band
and lightly fold it around the folded card so that it starts and finishes on
the front of the card – it won’t meet in the middle but one set of the layered
squares will go over the top of that and hide it. Add some glue to the top of each end of the
belly band and adhere the layered square so that it sits centrally on it.
I hope that you like my card, it displays really nicely as you can see and folds up to 6" square but will need a box or padded envelope if posting.
