craftykarendesigns: Pressed Petals Aperture Card

Hi Everyone,

Today I have made a very pretty card using the Pressed Petals designer series paper, it's beautiful paper and perfect for a special card or gift.

Materials

1 x 5 7/8" x 12 card stock for the card base (I have used so saffron)

1 x 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" card stock in a contrasting colour for the card front (I have used pear pizzazz)

1 x 5" x 5" gold foil card for the frame

1 x 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" whisper white for the inside of the card

1 x 5" x 5" Pressed Petals dsp (choose a nice piece with the image you want to display in the centre of the piece that you cut)

Scraps of white, gold foil and green for the sentiment and the leaves

18" of ribbon for decoration

2 circle dies to cut the aperture and the frame, I have used a 4 1/8" and a 4 3/4" die for this card

Die cutting machine

2" circle punch

2 1/4" circle punch

Leaf punch or leaf dies

Ink to match (I've used blushing bride on the inside and I have heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder)

Stamp set for the sentiment (I have used Floral Essence)

Instructions

Cut the card base and fold and burnish at 6", this card will be a tent fold card.

Cut the contrasting card stock for the card front and then cut out the aperture using the smaller of the two dies. Centre the die in the middle of the card front, measure around each side to get it as central as possible, put some washi tape or low tack tape on the die to keep it in place and cut it out with the die cutting machine. (see picture)

While you have the die cutting machine out, cut the frame from the gold foil. Place the smaller circle inside the larger and try and get the gap even all the way around. Add some washi tape again to keep them in place and cut out (see picture). This will give you a frame to go around the aperture on the card front.

If using dies for the leaves, cut these from green card at the same time or punch them out using the leaf punch.

Cut the dsp carefully choosing the image to be displayed and adhere to the back of the card front with the image showing through the aperture. Put the adhesive around the aperture rather than around the edge of the cut piece of dsp to make sure that the image is stuck in the circle and there are no gaps (see picture)

Adhere the frame around the image on the card front.

Measure a piece of ribbon around the top of the card front above the frame and fix on the back with some either snail or tear and tape, cut off the excess. Make a bow with the remaining piece and attach to the card front in the centre of the ribbon just above the frame (see picture).

Stamp a sentiment and a flower on the whisper white piece and attach to the inside of the card base (I have used blushing bride).

For the sentiment on the front, I have heat embossed it in gold. Rub over the piece of card stock with the embossing buddy to get rid of any fingerprints etc and then stamp your image with Versamark ink. Sprinkle gold embossing powder over the image and then set it with the heat tool. When it has cooled down, punch it out with a 2" circle punch. Then punch out a 2 1/4" circle from the gold foil (I have used the piece that came out of the middle of the frame).

Adhere the card front to the card base leaving a small border all the way around.

Adhere the sentiment to the centre of the gold foil circle and add dimensionals to the back. Arrange the leaves around the sentiment and glue in place. Adhere the sentiment to the front of the card at the bottom right.
