Handy Handbag Notebook and Pen

Hi Everyone,

Today I am taking part in a video/blog hop with some of my colleagues in Team Scrimpy to showcase some of the gorgeous new colours and products available in the new catalogue.  I have chosen to show you how to make a cute little handbag sized notebook with a pen.  It's so simple to make and can be made in any colour, stamped or covered in dsp. It is great for swaps, craft fairs, party bags, co-worker gifts, stocking fillers...the list is endless.

You can watch the video tutorial for this project over on my YouTube channel

Instructions

For the hand stamped version

Cut the cardstock to size and then stamp your design all over, then follow the directions for all versions from the scoring onward.

All versions

Cut cardstock to size and then on the long side score at 3 5/8", 4" and 4 3/8"

Burnish the score lines and then fold along the centre score

Cut from the folded score to the next score in two places about 1" apart (this is to make the holder for the pen or the pencil) see picture, then fold as shown in the picture.

Adhere the bottom fold to the back of the holder as shown and push the middle piece up to hold the pen or the pencil.

If your notebook has a cover, remove as close to the spine of the notebook as possible and then adhere the back of the notebook to the inside back of the holder.

DSP version

Cut the two pieces of dsp as per measurements above and adhere them to the front and back of the holder leaving a small border all the way round the edges.

All versions

Choose a sentiment and stamp onto a contrasting piece of cardstock then either cut out with a die or punch as required, the choice is yours. Then adhere to the front of the holder.

Fit the pen or pencil in the holder and it's finished.

For craft fairs, I then put them in a cello bag and make a topper for the bag using a piece of matching cardstock measuring the width of the cello bag + 1/4"  x 2" and then score it in half lengthways so it will fold across the top opening of the bag. I use double sided tape to adhere the topper to the bag, front and back and decorate. As you can see from the picture below, I have made several, they just need toppers adding which I will do just before my next craft fair.

I hope you like this project and will give it a try.
