Heartwarming Hugs Meets Penguin Place Christmas Card - Stampin' Birds Blog Hop

 Hi Everyone,

Todays' card is one that I made for a monthly swap group that I belong to and the theme was Christmas in July as we wanted to highlight some of the lovely new things coming in the Mini Catalogue which launches on 3rd August.  I've used lots of different patterns from the Heartwarming Hugs collection and teamed it with the cute penguin from the Penguin Place stamp set (there's also a punch), and inside there is a peek at the one of the Saleabration papers on offer with a qualifying order. Let me show you how I made it.

Materials

1 piece of card stock 5 7/8" x 8 1/4" (I have used real red, garden green and old olive - I had to make 13 cards)
1 piece of dsp (Heartwarming Hugs) 3 7/8" x 5 5/8", 1 piece 3" square
1 piece of basic white card 3 7/8" x 5 5/8", 1 piece 2" square and a scrap for the sentiment
Scrap of gold foil
Real red ink
Old olive ink
Garden green ink
Pumpkin pie ink
Memento black ink
Bumblebee ink
Penguin Place stamp set (new)
Penguin Builder punch (new)
Star punch (new)
Penguin Playmates dsp (Saleabration)
Pool party Stampin Blends
Trimmer
Simply scored
Bone folder
Multipurpose adhesive
Dimensionals

Instructions

On the long side score the card stock at 4 1/8" and fold and burnish to make the card base.

Adhere the larger piece of dsp to the card front and then add the 3" square as shown in the photograph towards the left.

I've used some retired square dies to make my stamping squares but you can just cut a 2" square if you don't have any dies. I stamped the penguin in the centre with memento black ink, added a beak and feet in pumpkin pie, a hat in either real red, old olive or garden green and a parcel or a basket in bumblebee. When the penguin is complete, scribble a line underneath with the pool party blend to make it look like he is on the ground and not floating in the air and then add it to the card front overlapping the 3" square as shown.

Stamp a sentiment on a 1/2" strip and cut both ends on the diagonal and add to the card front with mini dimensionals.

Stamp another sentiment on the remaining piece of white card. Punch out one of the penguins from the dsp and adhere on the bottom left and again, scribble underneath with the pool party to sit him on the ice. Adhere this layer on the inside of the card.

Punch out some of the small stars in the gold foil and add to the card front.

Isn't this FREE dsp cute? Spend £45 in either catalogue to be able to get a pack of this cute paper for FREE, this is just a little sneak peek.
