Cute Mermaid Birthday Card - Crafty Collaborations

 Hi Everyone,

Today I have been playing with the very cute Pirates and Mermaids Stamp set and the new Decorative Masks and the Blending Brushes. So I have been colouring and blending both of which are way out of my comfort zone and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Let me tell you what I did.

Instructions

On the long side score the navy card at 4 1/8" and fold and burnish to make the card base.

Take one of the largest white pieces of card and position the decorative mask over it and tape in place with some washi tape. This is the first time that I have used these masks and done any blending so I will not presume to tell you how to do it, there are lots of more well qualified crafters than me, check out YouTube.  I started with the pool party and put some ink on the brush, tapped off the excess and then rubbed it in a circular motion over the top section of the white card. Then I changed to balmy blue and finally misty moonlight and repeated until the card was covered. Then lift off the mask and see what you've got.  I then adhered this layer to the card front.

I then die cut the 2nd largest and the smallest of the scalloped contour dies. On the larger one, I blended some pool party at the top and crumb cake at the bottom to look like sand. Then adhere this to the card front in the centre.

Stamp a sentiment on the small die cut for the front and another on the remaining piece of white card for the inside.  Stamp a mermaid and the treasure chest on some scrap white and colour in with the blends and then fussy cut the images with the paper snips.

Add the sentiment and the two coloured images to the central rectangle with dimensionals and add some rhinestones.

I really enjoyed making this card and think I will do some more colouring and blending and hopefully improve my techniques, why don't you have a go too.
