Spring Retreat Best Dressed Pop Out Card

Hi Everyone,

Over the past weekend I should have been on a Spring Retreat with some of my crafty friends in Telford but it was cancelled due to the Corona Virus.  I was asked to give a demonstration and this is the Make and Take that I designed for them using the lovely Best Dressed designer series paper and lots of silver foil.  I hope that you like it.

Materials

1 piece of 6" x 11 3/4" card stock for the card base
2 pieces of dsp 5 5/8" square
1 piece of whisper white 5 5/8" square
1 piece of 1 1/2" x 11 3/4" card stock in matching colour
4 pieces of silver foil 2 3/4" x 3 1/4"
4 pieces of dsp  2 1/2" x 3"
1 piece of silver foil 5 5/8" square
1 piece dsp 5 3/8" square
Stitched So Sweetly Dies
Die cutting machine
Best Dressed dies and stamp set
So Sentimental Stamp set
30" piece of ribbon
Ink pads
Clear blocks
Multipurpose adhesive
Dimensionals
Tear N Tape

Instructions

Score the 6" x 11 3/4" piece of card stock on the long side at 5 7/8" and fold in half to make the card base.

Score the 1 1/2" x 11 3/4" piece of card stock on the long side at 5 7/8" and then fold back on both sides to makes a W shape.

Adhere the dsp layers to inside of the card, leaving a small border all the way around the edge.

Add a strip of tear n tape to the centre of the card base both front and back and lay the ribbon on top to secure it, make sure that you leave a level amount loose to tie the bow.

Then adhere the silver foil mat and the dsp layer to the front of the card, covering the ribbon. Now adhere the 5 5/8" square piece of whisper white to the back for you to write your message.

Put a thin bead of glue along one short edge of the W strip and adhere to the centre of the left hand edge of the inside of the card. Fold the rest of the strip on top of that and then put a bead of glue on the other side and close the card and press down until the glue sticks.  The W shaped strip will now be attached across the centre of the card.

Add the dsp layers to the silver foil layers carefully, if you get glue on the wrong place on the foil its hard to get it off again.  Decide which piece you want where and stick them in place along the strip making sure that they are centred.  I've stamped on one of the squares instead of using dsp just to show what it looks like stamping instead of adding dsp.

Add some tear n tape to the back of  the card across the centre and fold the ribbon around the card and lay on top of the tape to secure

Stamp a sentiment on a piece of  scrap card  for the front. Then die cut that and a matting layer from the Stitched So Sweetly dies. Add dimensionals to the back and add to the centre front of the card.

There you go, I hope that you like it.

Happy crafting,

Share it on a Sunday - Monochrome Card

Hi Everyone,

This week, for Share it on a Sunday, Donna chose 'monochrome' for the theme so I've come up with a gorgeous grape card, I love this colour and better than that, it has gingham and butterflies!! Two of my most favourite elements on a card.  If you click on the links below, you can pop over to see what Donna and Victoria have made this week.

Materials

1 piece of thick whisper white 8 1/4" x 5 7/8"
1 piece of gorgeous grape card stock 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" and 1 piece 4" x 2 7/8"
1 piece of gorgeous grape gingham dsp 5 3/8" x 3 5/8"
1 piece of whisper white 3 7/8" x 2 3/4"
Bloom and grow stamp set
Gorgeous Grape ink
Scraps of gorgeous grape card for the butterflies
Butterfly duet punch
Basic rhinestones
Multipurpose adhesive
Dimensionals

Instructions

Fold and burnish the thick whisper white to make the card base.

Adhere the gorgeous grape layer and then the gingham, leaving a small border all the way round on each layer.

Stamp the image and the sentiment on the smaller piece of whisper white.  I put both stamps together on a large block so that I could get the placement right.  Stamp a sentiment and some flowers on the inside of the card for decoration.  I've also stamped on the envelope too just to add a bit of interest.

Punch out two of the small butterflies with the butterfly duet punch from the scrap of gorgeous grape.

Add the stamped layer to the smaller layer of gorgeous grape, leaving a small border around the outside and then add to the card front with dimensionals.

Bend the wings of the butterflies up and then add them to the front of the card and add some rhinestones to the centre for the body.

A quick and simple card which would look great in any of the 52 Stampin' Up! colours and there are 52 different ginghams too, what more could you want ha ha!

Fun Fold Friday - #8 - Centre Step Card

Hi Everyone,

Today For Fun Fold Friday, I am bringing you a Centre Step Card, I love making these, they are so effective and really easy as long as you take it step by step.  Thanks to Kelly Acheson for the inspiration for the heart punch balloon.   I hope you like it and will give it a try.  There is a video tutorial for this card over on my YouTube channel, please click the link below:

https://youtu.be/Naulphu5zT0

Materials

1 piece of coastal cabana card stock 10" x 7"
1 piece of gingham dsp 4 3/4" square
2 pieces of gingham dsp 3 5/8" x 3/4"
3 dsp hearts (I've used the Pleased as Punch dsp but any will do)
1 piece of whisper white 4 3/4" square
Scrap of whisper white for the sentiment and the scalloped heart
Coastal cabana ink
Sending You Thoughts stamp set
Pretty label punch
Heart punch
Scalloped heart punch
Ruler
Bakers twine
Multipurpose adhesive
Dimensionals
Glue dots
Trimmer
Simpy scored
Bone folder

Instructions

Put coastal cabana card on score board with the long side at the top.

Put ruler across the card at 1" down from the top and then score at 1", 2" and 6".

Flip the card over and repeat on the other side to match.

Turn back so that the short edge is at the top and join the score lines from 1" to 6" on both edges of the card.

Turn back to long side at the top and score at 5" between the two horizontal scorelines.

Put card in the trimmer and cut down the scorelines between the 1" and 6" marks on both edges.
(I've just put the stamp set on the top so it will lay flat and you can see the scores and the cuts)

Now fold and burnish all score lines and the card should fall into the correct shape.

Stamp and decorate the piece of whisper white (if required) and adhere to the inside of the card.

Add the gingham dsp layers to the front of the card leaving a small border all around.

Fold the 3 hearts in half and glue them together to make a 3D heart and add them to the scalloped heart layer and arrange at the top left of the card front.

Double up a length of bakers twine and make a bow with a longish tail and add to the bottom of the heart balloon with a glue dot.

Stamp the sentiment on the scrap of whisper white with coastal cabana ink and punch out with the pretty label punch. Add dimensionals to the back and arrange on the card front over the tails of the balloon to keep them in place.

Here's a sample of this type of card using the Magnolia Lane Suite, lots of different looks depending on the decoration, the dsp and the colours.

Perennial Essence Fun Fold Card

Hi Everyone,

Todays fun fold card is a 'fun fold without a name'! I have seen this fold several times and it has never had a name, just 'fun fold' so if you know of a name for it, please let me know ha ha.  I saw this on the website of a US Demonstrator called Patty Bennett and I thought I would give it a go.  There is also a video tutorial over on my YouTube channel, click on the link below.

https://youtu.be/Xw0MmKDshfc

1 piece of bermuda bay card stock 5 1/2" x 10" and 1 piece 3" x 7"
1 piece of whisper white 2 3/4" x 3 1/4", 1 piece 4" x 5 1/4"
DSP - 1 piece 1 1/4" x 5 1/4", 2 pieces 4" x 5 1/4", and 1 piece 2 3/4" x 3 1/4"
Piece of ribbon approx 24"
Bermuda bay ink
Floral essence stamp set
Tear and tape
Multipurpose adhesive
Trimmer
Simply Scored
Bone folder

Instructions

On the long side, score the largest piece of card stock at 4 1/4" and 8 1/2", the smaller piece at 3 1/2", then fold and burnish the score lines.

Add dsp to the front of the card and the skinny fold over flap (I have used the reverse on the flap).

Adhere the other piece to the inside left hand side (again, I have used the reverse).

Add the smaller folded card to the front at the right hand edge,in the centre of the card.

Turn the card over and add tear and tape across the front of the small card and the back of the larger one and then adhere the ribbon to this.

Turn back to the front and add the small piece of dsp to the inside right hand piece of the small card.

Stamp a sentiment and a flower or two to the whisper white layer for the inside and adhere in place.  Then stamp a large flower on the piece for the inside of the small card and adhere in place.  Stamp the final sentiment and two flowers on the whisper white layer for the front and adhere in place over the top of the ribbon.

Fasten the ribbon on the left hand side of the card and the card is finished.  I hope you like it, I think its a pretty card and a fun 'fun fold'.
