Flowers of Friendship - Creative Colour Challenges #42

 Hi Everyone,

I thought I would have a go at my friend Victoria's Creative Colour Challenge #42 this week using two of the new 2022-2024 In Colours. I've teamed them with the In Colour DSP stack and the Flowers of Friendship stamp set and Flowers & Leaves Punch.

Materials

1 piece of thick basic white 5 7/8" x 8 1/4"
Scrap of basic white for stamping and punching label
1 piece of Parakeet Party dsp 3 7/8" x 5 5/8", scraps of Orchid Oasis for the flowers
Orchid Oasis ink
Basic Grey ink
Flowers of Friendship stamp set
Flowers and Leaves Punch
In Colour Matt Dots
Blender Pen
Multipurpose adhesive
Dimensionals
Trimmer
Simply scored
Bone folder
Take Your Pick Tool
Decorative Circle Punch

Instructions

On the long side score the thick card at 4 1/8" and fold and burnish to make the card base.

Adhere the dsp mat to the card front.

Stamp 4 of the large flowers on a scrap of white using the Orchid Oasis ink and punch them out. Then punch out 4 from the In Colour dsp..

Stamp the sentiment on another scrap of white and punch out with the Decorative Circle Punch, as you can see I punched it out so that the sentiment is at the side. Add the sentiment to the centre of the card using dimensionals. Stamp a sentiment on the inside of the card if required.

Colour in the centre of the flowers using a Blender Pen and ink (or a Stampin' Blend if you have one). Adhere the stamped flower to the dsp flower, offsetting the petals and bend up the stamped petals to give the flowers some dimension.  Add the flowers around the edge of the sentiment as shown in the picture using dimensionals. I added the 4th flower to the inside of the card.

Add a couple of the Matt Dots and the card is finished, I hope that you like it. Why don't you pop over to Victoria's Blog and have a go too, it's great fun.

Diagonal Hinged Lid Treat Box - Stampin' Birds 3D Thursday

 Hi Everyone,

The second Stampin' Birds Challenge for this week is a 3D project, I've made a diagonal hinged lid treat box using the lovely new Sweet Sorbet, I wanted to show off one of the new 2022-2024 In-Colours. There are lots of these sorts of boxes on Pinterest and YouTube and I'm not sure where I saw it first. Let me show you how I made it.

Materials

1 piece of sweet sorbet card stock 6" x 4 1/2", scrap for the sentiment
1 piece of sweet sorbet designer series paper 6" x 4 1/2"
Scraps of basic white and gold foil
In-Colour Bakers Twine to wrap around the box
Bough Punch
Flowers & Leaves Punch
Sweet Sorbet ink
Gilded Gems
Trimmer
Simply Scored
Bone Folder
Paper Snips
Shaded Summer stamp set
Flowers of Friendship stamp set
Multipurpose adhesive
Tear and Tape
Mini Glue Dots

Instructions

Score the card stock and dsp at 1 1/2" on all 4 sides

On the dsp, draw a diagonal line as shown on the two outer, centre rectangles. Then cut as shown. Trim the tabs as shown in the photos, this is just to reduce the bulk so doesn't have to be a specific measurement, the card stock version needs two short and two longer (see picture).

Add tear and tape to the tabs on the dsp one as shown and then fold them in the make a box end, making sure that the cut edges line up with the folded edges. The other end is the hinge which will attach to the card stock box.

Add tear and tape to the tabs on the card stock now and make up the end with the shorter tabs.  Then before sealing the other end, line up  the dsp hinge piece and then fold over the last square piece and seal that end.

The box is now ready to fill with sweets and decorate.

I have tied In Colour twine around the box and tied a bow. Then Punch out a large scalloped oval in sweet sorbet and a smaller white one to stamp on. Stamp a sentiment from Shaded Summer and layer the two together.

Punch out a gold foil bough and stamp and punch out two of the smaller flowers from Flowers of friendship. Tuck the leaves under the twine and the adhere the sentiment label, tucked under the ribbon and just glued at one end.  Add the two flowers and then add gilded gems for decoration.

I hope that you like my little box, please pop over and see what Donna and Victoria have made too.

Pootlers Retreat Swap Cards

 Hi Everyone,

I've just come back from a retreat with the lovely Pootlers team so I can now show you the swap cards that I made for my team mates. I love making and receiving swaps, it's a great way of using up your stash and getting lots of inspiration for new projects. I would normally have made a 3D project but as I was travelling to Birmingham by train, I wanted something that wouldn't get squashed in my case. I'm using up dsp and bringing out stamp sets and dies that are retiring at the end of this annual catalogue. Let me show you how I made them.

Materials

1 piece of coloured card stock 5 7/8" x 8 1/4", 1 piece 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" for the sentiment and scraps for the flowers
1 piece of basic white 3 7/8" x 5 5/8", 1 piece 1 3/4" x 2 3/4" for the sentiment and scraps for the flowers
1 piece of dsp 3 7/8" x 5 5/8" (I used Abstract Beauty)
Ink to match the coloured card
Flowers & Leaves Punch
Stitched So Sweetly dies
Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine
Gilded Gems
Flowers of Friendship stamp set
Create With Friends stamp set
Trimmer
Simply Scored
Take Your Pick Tool
Multipurpose Adhesive
Dimensionals

Instructions

On the long side score the coloured card at 4 1/8" and fold and burnish to make the card base.

Adhere the dsp to the card front.

Dies cut the two rectangles for the sentiment.

Stamp the sentiment on the white card for the inside of the card and add two flowers. The sentiment I have used is three separate words which I have arranged on a block.  Adhere this to the inside of the card.

Stamp a sentiment on the smaller white rectangle and then layer that up on the coloured one and adhere to the front of the card, at an angle, using dimensionals.

Stamp a small flower and a large flower on the scrap of white using ink to match the card base and punch out, then punch out matching ones from coloured card.  Scrunch them up a little bit to give them some dimension and then add a spot of glue to the centre of the coloured card one and then add the stamped one, offsetting the petals on top. Adhere them around the sentiment on the card front and add gilded gems to the centre.

I hope you will agree that these are great cards to use for batch making, I really enjoyed making them and the best thing was, I used up loads of my stash.  They work with any colour and any dsp and stamp set.
