Today I'm bringing you a pop up card with a difference. This card uses the beautiful new Gingham Gala DSP from Stampin Up and the new stamp sets Incredible Like You and Well Said as well as some beautiful silver foiled card from my stash. I hope you like it, here's how I made it:
Materials
1 x piece whisper white card measuring 12" x 5 3/4"
1 piece of whisper white card measuring 2 5/8" x 5 1/4"
1 x piece of balmy blue card measuring 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"
3 x pieces of balmy blue card measuring 2 5/8" x 5 1/2"
1 piece of balmy blue gingham gala dsp measuring 5 1/4" x 5 1/4"
2 pieces of balmy blue gingham gala dsp measuring 2 3/8" x 5 1/4"
scraps of silver foil for the stars
scrap of balmy blue card for the sentiment
small piece of crochet cotton or similar to hang the star
red line tape or other similar very strong double sided tape

Big Shot die cutting machine
2 x star shaped dies to cut out the shapes, I used the 2nd and 3rd largest ones (these are from my stash but you could easily change the shape and use the Stitched Shape Circles, Squares or Ovals from Stampin Up, the process is the same whichever shape that you use.
Method
Take the large piece of whisper white card and score on the long side at 2 7/8", 5 3/4", 8 5/8" and 11 1/2" but do not fold and burnish these lines yet. You will have 4 sections that are the same width and 1 which is a skinny one which will form the tab.
Using the 2 sections furthest from the tab, place your balmy blue card centrally over the score line which separates these two sections. If you don't have a magnetic plate on your Big Shot machine, you may want to tack these two pieces together with a tiny piece of low tack tape or washi tape between the two layers.
First place your larger die centrally on the gingham dsp and run through the Big Shot and then position it centrally on the card so that you can judge where the smaller die will go.
Then place the smaller of the two shaped dies centrally within the shape already cut from your dsp. Run the card through the Big Shot, it will cut both layers quite easily, this will ensure that your contrasting card and your base card line up.
Cut out two smaller star shapes and glue together using a piece of the crochet cotton between the layers which is long enough to reach top and bottom of the opening on the blue card. Then using red line tape adhere the ends of the cotton in place on the wrong side of the blue card to keep in place. Stick the blue card to the whisper white base and then adhere the dsp to the top.
Fold and burnish the card down the centre and the two rear panels as well as the tab. Bend the centre, front line carefully between your fingers. This will give your card the required shape to the front when it is displayed.
Adhere the strips of dsp to 2 of the remaining mats and then glue them to the inside back panels so that they can be seen through the aperture in the card. Using red line tape (or similar) stick the tab to the back side of the front square to form a box.
Cut 4 smaller stars from the silver foil and adhere to the front of the card.
Adhere the final piece of whisper white to the last mat of balmy blue and stamp the other image in balmy blue ink into the centre, then stick that to the left hand section of the back of the card.
I hope you agree, its a pretty stunning card. There are lots of steps but if you follow them carefully, you too can produce a card like this. Give it a try, I'd love to see your version.
