Fun Fold Friday #12 - Bow Card Using Magnolia Lane

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to Episode 12 of Fun Fold Friday, so glad you could join me.  Today I am making a card with a fun fold bow on the front, so not technically a fun fold card, but a card with a fun fold element.  My inspiration came from a fellow Stampin'Up! Demonstrator, Ian Potter (Stamping With Ian), I've just changed up the measurements and the designer series papers. There is a video tutorial for this card over on my YouTube channel, just click the link below:

Materials

1 piece of petal pink card stock 6" x 12"
1 piece of whisper white card stock 5 7/8" square
1 piece of dsp 5 7/8" square
4 large ovals cut in dsp 2 3/4" x 3 3/4"
4 smaller ovals cut in dsp 2 1/4" x 3 1/2"
2 banner pieces cut in dsp 1 7/8" x 2"
Scraps of whisper white and petal pink for the sentiment
Scalloped oval dies
Banner dies
Die Cutting Machine
Beauty Abounds stamp set
Petal pink ink
Old Olive ink
Multiputpose adhesive
Dimensionals
Trimmer

Instructions

On the long side, score the card stock at 6" and fold and burnish to make a card base.

Add the dsp layer to the front.

Die cut the ovals and the banners from dsp and also die cut a whisper white and a petal pink oval for the sentiment layers (I have used the smallest dsp oval and the one slightly smaller from my set).

Add glue to one of the narrow ends of the large oval and then bend it so that the other side meets it and pinch the two together to form one loop of the bow.  Repeat this with all the other dsp pieces until you have 8 loops in total.

Adhere the two banner sections to the front of the card about half way down on either side.

Do a dry fit with the bow loops to see where they should do and then stick them down, the larger ones on the outside and the smaller ones on the inside, resting on the larger ones (see picture).  It doesn't matter that there is a gap in the centre as the sentiment will cover that.

Stamp a sentiment and any decoration to the whisper white layer for the inside and then adhere it to the inside of the card.

Stamp a sentiment to the whisper white oval and then adhere it to the petal pink oval.  Add dimensionals to the back and stick down in the centre of the bow, you will have to press quite firmly and hold it down for a few seconds until it grabs.

The finished card will either need to go in a padded envelope or a box.  To make a box to fit you will need 1 piece of card 9" x 8", scored at 1" on all four sides for the base and 1 piece of card 9 1/16" x 8 1/16" for the lid, scored at 1" on all four sides).  Cut tabs in each corner as for any box and adhere together.

  3. The photo of this gorgeous card intrigued me, because I had no clue how you made it! Much to my surprise, you created it with a set of layered scalloped ovals. By using double sided DSP you put your design over the top! Love this card!!!
